Finally, it’s official. Star Entertainment India CEO Sameer Nair is joining NDTV to head its Hindi general entertainment channel business.

Nair joins NDTV Imagine Ltd as CEO and director, the company said in a statement. A subsidiary of NDTV Networks Plc, NDTV Imagine, a Hindi mass entertainment channel in which film director Karan Johar is a partner, will have an investment outlay of $106 million.

Nair, currently serving his notice period, signs off from his position as head of India’s largest broadcast network on 26 March.

US-based venture capital fund Com Ventures has agreed to invest $20 million in NDTV Networks Plc, the company which will also hold NDTV Lifestyle. NDTV Lifestyle will be responsible for launching new channels under the lifestyle genre dedicated to travel, food, fashion, shopping and health and wellness.

No other details are currently available on the scope and breadth of activities NDTV Imagine will be involved with.
