A Manhattan book editor who’s bitten by a wolf struggles to control the animal within him as he struggles with his transformation from man to beast.

Will Randall is a Manhattan book editor plagued with fears of losing his job. To recuperate from the busy streets of the big city, he drives absent-mindedly along a remote country road one snowy night. Suddenly, he’s forced to slam on his brakes as a dark figure looms for an instant ahead.

Getting out of his car to investigate, Randall follows a trail of blood into the forest - through the snow, and right in front of a great dark wolf. Thinking the beast dead, Randall wanders closer to the animal. Alive, the great beast rises to escape into the night, biting Randall on the wrist before running away.

From this moment on, Randall’s life begins to change. His transformation to that of wolf-man is subtle at first, as his senses become more acute and his perceptions of those around him sharpen.

With each passing day, Randall is drawn deeper into the mystical spirit of the wolf. For the editor, nothing not his job, his marriage, nor any part of his life will ever be the same again.
