Synopsis

‘Masti’ is a story about three friends – Meet, Amar and Prem. They eventually get married and find themselves caught in the web of post-marital problems. The trio thus seeks excitement outside their respective homes. They get into a little Masti – a few extra-marital affairs here and a few extra-marital affairs there, till one day they realise that their own masti is backfiring on them. They are unknowingly trapped in a serious plot, and are now on the run.

Behind the Scenes

MASTI was earlier titled KHUJLI,
This shocked the loyalists and friends of the makers. It didn’t even go well their image, hence they changed the title to a more acceptable title – MASTI.

Aftab and Ritiesh are having an affair
Satish Shah always suspects that, Aftab and Ritiesh are involved with each other. When they are carrying Lara Dutta’s dead body, Satish’s car stops next to their car. To hide from him Ritiesh puts his head in Aftab’s lap. Satish is shocked to see this and his doubts are confirmed.

Aftab strips for MASTI
Aftab had to strip for a scene, but he was very conscious of his body. So, he made everybody leave the room. After every body left, he stripped and started performing. After the scene got over he heard a loud applause from the next room, where the entire unit, was sitting in front of the monitor and watching him, all along. He felt like a complete fool.

Aftaab & Vivek slap Ritiesh
In the song ‘Ek bechara…’ Vivek and Aftaab were suppose to slap Ritiesh. But they got carried away and actually started slapping him and continued till the end of the song. Ritiesh was constantly abusing both of them and threatened to get back.

Aftab forces Tara to smooch him
Tara was new and nervous while shooting for MASTI. Once, when she arrived for the shoot, Aftab wanted to pull a prank on her. He told her, that she would have to do a intimate kissing scene with him. She got all worked up and said she will not be able to do it. Later she learned that it was a prank and got really mad.

Amrita’s T-shirt says “My husband is the best”.
Amrita Rao is suppose to wear a T-shirt with her husband, Vivek Oberoi’s picture printed on it, with a caption, “My husband is the best”. She found this quirk in her character so unique, that she accepted the role, the moment she heard the script.

Aftab forms rules to break them.
Aftab formulated rules for the workshop – If some one would come late, they would make the person kneel down as a punishment. But, when it was Aftab’s turn he abolished the rules.

Ashok Thakeria and Inder Kumar conducted a workshop to familiarise actors with each other and rehearse their scenes.
