Ratna is confused and surprised at the reluctance on the part of her parents and others whenever she seeks to know about Shekhar. Ranvijay lies to her that Shekhar has gone out of the village to run an errand.
Ratna is disturbed because she wishes to study while Barchhi Didi wants her to get married. She shares her concerns with Loha Singh. Loha explains that Barchhi is right. When Ratna says she doesn’t want to get married immediately, Loha gently but firmly conveys to her that she will have to follow the family’s traditions.
Shekhar has vowed not to step inside the mansion. However, the desire to meet Ratna gets the better of him and he starts calling out to his sister from outside the mansion. Loha tells him that he will have to break his vow and enter the house if he wants to meet Ratna. However, Shekhar reiterates his decision not to step inside the mansion and threatens to seek help of police if Ratna is not allowed to come out and meet him. Loha and Shekhar are shocked when they realize that Barchhi has overheard them.
