Zee Cinema presents yet another innovation Cinema Hall, its second branded time slot on weekdays after Klub.
Through Cinema Hall, Zee Cinema is creating a destination that gives the family a reason to come together every night at 8.30 pm. The branded block launches on 23 April and will air from Monday to Friday.

Close on the heels of former Sahara One CEO Shantonu Aditya’s appointment at UTV, the company has announced that yet another Sahara executive Sameer Ganapathy has been roped in to head the distribution for UTV Broadcasting Ltd.
Ganapathy will report to Aditya, who is executive director of UTV Broadcasting and whose mandate is to set up the entire distribution bouquet of the group’s forthcoming broadcast initiatives. UTV Broadcasting is a 100 per cent subsidiary of the diversified media entity.
Aditya said, “We are delighted to have Sameer join UTV. He brings with him almost a decade of rounded experience in distribution of a broadcasting bouquet. Has seen the distribution space evolve, thus a perfect fit for our forthcoming broadcast venture.” (more…)
Doordarshan has approved a scheme for establishment of a network of VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminals) at 70 places all over the country with a central hub at Delhi with a view to strengthening the newsgathering facilities.
Action for procurement of VSAT has already been initiated. Establishment of the VSAT network would enable feeding of news from the 70 places to National/Regional News Units through satellite. This network would also enable voice/data communication among the places, where VSAT are set up. (more…)

Marking a come back to ‘fiction formatting’ for the content providers Miditech, the show revolves around a daughter who sacrifices her love and her personal life for her mother and her siblings.

Zee Cinema, the hindi movie channel presents Pyaar Ki Shuruaat, India’s first two minute love story. A complete feature film, of two minutes starring Nitin Nayyar and Gargi Sharma.
Pyaar Ki Shuruat had a premiere on 1 April 2007 at Genting, Malaysia during the Zee Cine Awards.
On the preview of the movie Zee Cinema’s business head Bharat Ranga said, “Zee Cinema is the pioneer of two minute films in India with the first two minute thriller Paap Ka Anth, it was only natural that we take forward the concept, albeit with a different genre this time, hence Pyaar Ki Shuruaat.”

Vaisakhi, the Sikh new year and harvest festival, will be celebrated for the fifth time at the Trafalgar Square here later this month.
The celebrations, to be held April 29, are set to begin with prayers and messages for peace. Shabad Kirtan (religious hymns) will be performed by groups from London Gurdwaras.
This year’s festival will include a focus on the contribution made by Sikh women to the community. Prominent Sikh women are expected to make a presentation, according london.gov.uk, the official website of the mayor of London.The event will also feature traditional Sikh music, dance and cuisine. Global IT services company IBM has bagged a 3.8 million dollar deal spread over five years from Japanese major Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) to support its global financial system in which IBM’s India support centres will play a major role.
The agreement, signed in Q1 of 2007, expands on a 4.3 million dollar contract of last year between the two firms. IBM will provide operations and support services, both on site at SPE’s headquarters and remotely from the IBM support centres in India, an IBM release said here.
IBM global business services will provide application management services for SPE’s SAP Global Financial Applications, leveraging IBM’s India-based global delivery capabilities. (more…)
