Story: Garv is based on the men in uniform and their personal problems. It is the story of Mumbai police officers Arjun Ranavat (Salman Khan), Samar Singh (Amrish Puri) and Hyder Ali (Arbaaz Khan). Under the supervision of Samar Singh, special task force officers Arjun Ranavat and Hyder Ali are assigned a mission, to clean up the menace of the underworld. This results in turmoil for the underworld and also for their patrons in the political circle, thus disrupting their normal activities.To tone down Arjun, the underworld targets his mother (Farida Jalal) and sister (Akanksha). When Arjun seeks support from legal quarters but receives neither support nor help, he decides to shed his police uniform and take up arms to fight his own battle, with his own methods.

Story: Madhav Singh Ghai along with two ex-college slackers, Gopal and Lucky who is mute, team up with college student, Laxman, to extort money from students as well as sell question papers in advance. The four are also on the run from a Garage owner to whom they owe money. While on the run one day, they come across a spacious bungalow occupied by a blind couple, Somnath and Mangala. They overhear that their grandson is to return from New York, and decide to con the couple and live in the bungalow in style. Laxman becomes the grandson, Sameer, while Gopal lends his voice to fool the couple. The four find that they have an attractive neighbor in Nirali and each of them comically propose their love to her. To complicate matters, a gangster is interested in a wooden sealed box in Somnath’s house. Hilarious chaos prevails when the hapless foursome find out that Somnath is already aware of them; the gangsters take over the house to claim the wooden box; and the garage owner is all set to recover his loan, at the same time Nirali also enters the scene to declare who she has chosen to be her husband.

Inspector Ashwini Kumar (Dilip Kumar) is a brave and dedicated police officer. His young son is kidnapped by J.K. (Amrish Puri) and his men. The kidnappers ask Ashwini to release a criminal in exchange for his son. He refuses to compromise, as he holds the law in high esteem. Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) hears his father’s refusal and in his desperate bid to escape, he is helped by a henchman, K.D. (Kulbhushan Kharbanda). The kidnapping episode and his father’s refusal to save his life still prey upon his mind. This causes a great rift between father and son and it becomes wider till both father and son soon find themselves standing on opposite sides of the law. Inspector Ashwini’s efforts to bring back his errant son into his fold are in vain. Vijay’s mother (Rakhee) becomes a victim to J.K.’s bullet. Vijay is driven to fury and sets out to kill J.K. Ashwini gets wind of Vijay’s plans and goes to stop his son. He is unable to stop him from killing J.K. but when Vijay tries to escape from the law, he shoots him down and kills him.
