Star Plus popular daily serial Miilee will soon come to an end as the leading lady Mona Wasu has refused to renew her contract that expires in March. The show will complete a year in March. However, after much bargaining, Mona has agreed to shoot for the soap till May-end.

Mona wants to leave the show because the hectic schedule of the show doesn’t leave time for herself. The show started as a weekly in April but keeping in mind its growing popularity it was turned into a daily and the protagonist Mona had to report to the sets every single day of the month.

The news has dismayed her co-stars who are like a huge family and even channel authorities are miffed. Producers cannot replace Mona, as she plays the central character. (more…)

After reverberating Delhi and Calcutta by their live performance on stage, the final contestants of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 Vinit and Debojit, took away the hearts of their Mumbai fans by going live on FM. Their fans wished them, blessed them and also requested them to sing their favorite songs on FM radio.

Vinit and Debo were thrilled of this unique experience where they were showered with lot of massages and requests. Debo got a call from a little girl who sweetly called him Debojit Mama (uncle) and wished him to win the contest. On the other hand Vinit who is single but secretly loves a girl, got calls from many girls who were literally ga-ga over him and were saying ‘I love u Vinit’. (more…)

Husband-wife Arshad Warsi and Maria Goretti are excited since both will together host the Star Gold’s reality awards show ‘Sabse Favourite Kaun’. Arshad is known for his comic act in Bollywood films and Maria is famously known as former MTV VJ.

Warsi has been anchoring the show for the past two years. Before that he didn’t had any experience of working on small screen but when he started doing the show he enjoyed the experience tremendously. Sony’s biggest competitor Zee TV has been able to score over it, on all-day viewership after several weeks of efforts. Now Zee’s biggest challenge is to maintain that position.

Over the past seven weeks, Zee TV, which has been No 3 amongst general entertainment channels, has managed to close in on Sony No 2 position and now according to TAM data they have even edge past it.

The channel war has just begun with Sony trying hard to increase its ratings and Zee ready with a strong lineup of new formats including Business Baazigar which will be hosted by Zee-owner Subhash Chandra himself. (more…)

Zee TV will be making a formal announcement soon about the launch of the new format for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and its promos will be out any time soon. The show has decided to bring back the 12 finalists who were voted out of the challenge.

In March 2006, music lovers will once again enjoy the voices of Hemchandra, Himani, Nihira and other finalists. Here there will be no pressure of competition.

Gurinder Chadha’s first commercial that she directed for the Gibson Guitar, named “Only a Gibson is Good Enough” Empress Commercial is creating a buzz throughout the United States. The commercial has Kings Courtroom as the backdrop.

In the commercial, an empress (played by Natasha Mago) attempts to please the emperor (Sumanto Chattopadhyay) with several gifts - his painted portrait, a vintage car, and even jewels. But the emperor looks disinterested, until he hears the strains of a Gibson guitar played by a rock star (Mithun Poojari of the Mumbai-based rock group Pindrop Violence). The empress then takes the guitar from the stunned rock star and presents it to her emperor.

Chadha was asked by Tom Korsan, who runs the Los Angles-based production house Great Guns USA and since he had seen Bride and Prejudice, he thought Chadha would work wonders for the Gibson ad. Chadha was free; she really liked it and said yes. She also knew that she would be able to bring more production value to it, as she knew people in India. Korsan, his team and Chadha then travelled to Mumbai. The commercial was shot at Nitin Desai’s studio near Khandala over two days. (more…)

The season two of Indian Idol - the reality talent hunt has been shifted to 9 pm slot from the earlier 8:30 pm. The change will be effective from 13 February.

The first season of Indian Idol was aired in the 9:30 pm time slot. However with the second season, the channel had hoped to en-cash on the strong cachet in the 8:30 pm band that Fame Gurukul had managed to make.

But time shuffle is done by Sony in a bid to get some traction going for Indian Idol. The official reason given for the time shuffle is that viewers in the metros were unable to catch the show at 8:30 pm and hence the change.
