Star One that boasts of diverse serial list will start a new detective serial with the name DON starting from 10 February (Friday) at 9 pm. Actor Parmeet Sethi will play Detective Omkar Nath.
The USP of the show is it being grounded amidst the common man and its appeal to the masses. The crimes that Don solves are not of nation-threatening proportions - they are simple everyday crimes that would otherwise remain unsolved inside closed files.
Detective Omkar brings justice to regular people who have been victims of regular crime. For this he sports different looks (that fall in category of common man) like salesman, beggar, fruit seller … to solve the case and to capture the criminal.

Actor - TV anchor Madhavan who took Sony TV serial ‘Deal Ya No Deal’ to certain heights, has learned few tricks himself from the show. Last he was seen in Chennai cooking up dosas (Indian pancakes), brewing coffee and selling paintings.
Don’t get shocked! It was done for a good cause. Madhavan was doing this to raise funds for the ‘The Banyan’ - a home for the mentally ill and destitute women. He was able to earn two lakhs Rupees and donated it to them.
The ‘dosas’ prepared by Madhavan were good enough to get twenty five thousand and the coffee that he made was again auctioned for twenty five thousand. And finally he auctioned a Thota Tharini painting for one lakh. Wow! After making everyone happy he just whizzed off. Now that can be called a true Rang De Basanti sprit.
As if one ad was not enough for the famous cola brand Pepsi, they have again roped ladies trio - Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra and Farah Khan to recreate the magic of ‘Pepsi cappuccino’ commercial. Also superstar Shah Rukh Khan will join them to add x factor to the ad.
This Rs 35 lakhs ad shot by SRK’s buddy Farah Khan and produced by his company Red Chillies Entertainment is to promote Pepsi TV. The campaign drives home the message that anyone watching TV must have the cola in hand.
The stars recently shot at Madh Island. The ad will also add fizz to Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming film ‘Don’ which stars all three actors.
Month of romance - February is the time for Valentine’s Day celebration, add Oscar fever to that and it will become ultimate treat. On the occasion HBO and Star movies is presenting several movies of different genre - comedy, romance, action and drama.
Star movies will portray its “Made in India” series which will feature Indian crossover films on every Wednesday 9 P.M. These include ‘Bride and Prejudice’, ‘Let’s Enjoy’, ‘Mumbai Matinee’ and ‘Flavors’. Star will also telecast Oscar winning movies in its special program - Oscar Fever.

He is cricket’s rising star - Virendra Sehwag and she is Bollywood’s glam girl - Payal Rohatgi and both have being paired for an ad of a toothpowder company.
Payal will shed her glam girl image for the ad which is directed by Pradeep Sarkar (Parineeta) and will be seen in a whole new avatar of a village girl. She is quite excited about her image makeover from a sex kitten to Gaon ki Gori (village beauty).
In the ad, Sehwag goes to a mela and sees Payal chewing sugarcane with her teeth. Her teeth are strong as a result of using Dabur’s Lal Dantmanjan. Sarkar feels that the on screen chemistry between Payal and Sehwag is great.
Stunning duo Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are scheduled to be the guest judges on the Sony TV musical reality show Indian Idol on February 06, 2006.
Both the actresses after gigging in an ad for a cola brand and making their style statement on men’s magazine Maxim’s cover are ready to blow the music contest. Lately Priyanka graced her presence on small screen rival music show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.

Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan and dancer-actress Isha Sharvani (Kisna fame) will be seen together in a Parle’s Hide-n-Seek ad. Both have been roped in by the company to promote their premium biscuit brand.
After seeing Kajol ad (anti-Marie Bureau) campaign for Marie digestive biscuits one should have guessed that the biscuit war (to bring more powerful celebrity from another) will begin soon.
The company hopes to attract the attention of the 18-25 years age group by linking two of the best dancers in Bollywood. Be ready for some great dance performance in the commercial as a choreographer has been flown down from London to direct Roshan and Sharvani for the dance moves.

Abhishek Bachchan looks and his work is finally getting recognized. Omega - world wide brand for watches, is roping Abhishek as its Indian brand ambassador.
Omega International (a subsidiary of the Swatch Group) is expected to make an announcement to this effect in March-end during the Baselworld 2006 annual fair for watches and timepieces. Abhishek rising popularity in UK and US will add to the essence of brand.
Earlier, there were rumours that another Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan, would be roped in by Omega to pit him against Shah Rukh Khan (brand ambassador for Tag Heuer watches) and Aamir Khan (brand ambassador for Titan). But from Omega’s point of view, Abhishek will be in sync with the brand personality.

Zee TV’s popular show ‘Sarrkar - Risshton Ki Ankahi Kahani’ which shows turmoil between family members soaked in politics, is suffering with ego-clashes between its star cast and that too over petty matters such as make-up rooms!
It is said the internal strife between its leading stars is making it impossible for the entire unit to work together. Senior actors Divya Seth (Priyamvada davi) and Shveta Salve (Shweta) have expressed reservations about sharing their make-up rooms with their co-actors.

This week will see a new twist on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005. Among the three contestants Hyderabadi Hemachandra will be ousted from the race due to less number of votes.
This week show which has Tabu as a guest, got record breaking votes - 1 crore 25 lakh. Top grosser Debojit received 40 lakh votes from the Eastern region alone.
Hemachandra guru Aadesh Shrivastava disappointed at regional bias said, “The motto behind Sa Re Ga Ma Pa was supposed to be ‘Aapki Choice India ki Voice.’ But how can it be the nation’s voice when one sector corners all the votes for one candidate? I’m worried.”
