Zee Cinema presents yet another innovation Cinema Hall, its second branded time slot on weekdays after Klub.
Through Cinema Hall, Zee Cinema is creating a destination that gives the family a reason to come together every night at 8.30 pm. The branded block launches on 23 April and will air from Monday to Friday.

Doordarshan has approved a scheme for establishment of a network of VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminals) at 70 places all over the country with a central hub at Delhi with a view to strengthening the newsgathering facilities.
Action for procurement of VSAT has already been initiated. Establishment of the VSAT network would enable feeding of news from the 70 places to National/Regional News Units through satellite. This network would also enable voice/data communication among the places, where VSAT are set up. (more…)
UTV has announced the launch of its latest business venture UTV Palador - a 360-degree initiative in world cinema under the brand name of ‘Olive Collection’ that will have three verticals including a television channel, a DVD label and theatre presence.
The company will invest $15 million (Rs 700 million) for acquiring 1000 titles across 20 countries. “We will be investing this over 3 years. Our immediate funding requirement is $3.5 million,” says UTV CEO Ronnie Screwvala.
The non-Indian language movie segment is estimated to Rs 15 billion by 2009 and UTV Palador believes that World Cinema in their model could account for 20 per cent of that. (more…)
Nimbus had entered into a deal with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in February 2006 for the telecast rights to all matches featuring the Indian team till March 2010.
Many Indian fans, however, were not able to watch India’s series against the West Indies and Sri Lanka earlier this year and following their demands, the government brought out the ordinance asking the sports channel to share its telecast with the Prasar Bharati, which controls Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (AIR), albeit with a seven-minute delay.
The channel has pointed out that the arrangement is eating into its revenues as the Doordarshan’s footprint also includes places outside India. (more…)
“Creative differences are necessary as this shows there are no biases among the judges,” said Anu Malik at the first press conference of the third edition of ‘Indian Idol’ which launched its marketing drive in Delhi.
The singer-composer, who was a judge in the first two editions of Indian Idol produced by Miditech for Sony TV, was reacting to a question on sharing the podium of the judge with Alisha Chinai, with whom he had reportedly had a clash some years earlier. The third judge is singer Udit Narayan.
The judges made a dramatic entrance during the press meet at a five-star hotel here, when they where brought in one after another in separate palanquins carried by four to five young men with young women showering them with rose petals. (more…)
After a little over eight years at Sony Entertainment Television India, Anil Garg, the broadcast network’s chief technology officer, has resigned.
Garg says he is taking a break for a while, after which he plans to work on new ventures in the technology domain.
A technology geek to the core, Garg is acknowledged as one of the founders of the internet in India. (more…)
English news channel NDTV 24×7 is to be converted into a free to air (FTA) channel in the Cas-notified areas of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata from 23 March.
The channel, which is already FTA in Chennai, is a pay channel in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. NDTV 24×7 is distributed by the Set-Discovery One Alliance distribution bouquet.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India today issued an order to this effect, thus updating their earlier press releases, placing the details of Maximum Retail Prices (MRP) fixed by the broadcasters in respect of Cas areas on the basis of the reporting done by them in terms of clause 7 (ii) of the Trai Order of 31 August, last year.
