It is rumoured that he may be the opening act in the prestigious annual film awards show organised by India’s satellite broadcasting network Zee Network.

Salman, whose film career started in 1988, has acted in more than 60 films to date, including blockbusters Hum Apke Hain Koun…! (1994) and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). His latest movie Salaam-e-Ishq was released recently.

Other Bollywood stars slated to perform for the night include Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra, and engaged couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. (more…)

A ‘television team’ is already in place. “We have a research team headed by Ravina Kohli, which is ideating and exploring various possibilities in the field of television,” said CEO at Yash Raj, Sanjeev Kohli.

Word on the street has it the new channel will be launched by the end of 2008. Karan Johar and NDTV, refused to comment on the head-on competition to what was so far the channel’s USP — Karan Johar’s star power. Meanwhile, the industry is waiting for round 1: Yashraj vs KJo.

Finally, it’s official. Star Entertainment India CEO Sameer Nair is joining NDTV to head its Hindi general entertainment channel business.

Nair joins NDTV Imagine Ltd as CEO and director, the company said in a statement. A subsidiary of NDTV Networks Plc, NDTV Imagine, a Hindi mass entertainment channel in which film director Karan Johar is a partner, will have an investment outlay of $106 million.

Nair, currently serving his notice period, signs off from his position as head of India’s largest broadcast network on 26 March. (more…)

We all know that Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar are good friends and when Karan invited Shah Rukh to be the guest on his show Koffee with Karan, Shah Rukh decided to return the favor by inviting Karan to be the first celebrity contestant on Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Karan Johar will be playing the game along with their common friend, Farah Khan. This episode will be shot today and it is reportedly going to be telecasted on February 11 as a Friendship special episode.

Karan Johar says that he is not prepared for it and will just go on the sets and play. This will be the first time that Karan will appear on KBC as participant. Last time he was seen among the audience supporting his friend Shah Rukh when King Khan participated as a contestant on the same show which was then hosted by Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. (more…)
