A young idealistic English filmmaker, Sue (Alice Payton), arrives in India to make a film on Indian revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad and their contemporaries and their fight for freedom from the British Raj.

Sue, aided by Sonia (Soha Ali Khan), meets a group of friends, in whom she sees the characters of her documentary. The group consists of DJ (Aamir Khan), who passed out of college five years back, but still wants to be a part of the University because he doesn’t think there’s much out there in the real world to look forward to. Beginning in 1951, ‘Guru’ is the story of a boy who goes to Turkey to work in a petroleum company after failing his school exams back home in a small Gujarat village.

With sheer hard work Gurukant Desai (Abhishek Bachchan) rises in ranks and gets promotion. But Guru is a man of big vision. He quits his job in Turkey and comes back to Gujarat to start some business of his own.

Owing to a lack of funds, she recruits students from Delhi University to act in her docu-drama. She finds DJ (Aamir Khan), who passed out five years back but still wants to be a part of the University because he doesn’t think there’s too much out there in the real world to look forward to.

Karan (Siddharth), the son of Industrialist Rajnath Singhania, who shares an uncomfortable relationship with his father, but continues to live off him, albeit very grudgingly. Aslam (Kunal Kapoor), is a middle class Muslim boy, who lives in the bylanes near Jama Masjid, poet, philosopher and guide to his friends. (more…)

One rainy night, Maddy chances upon Reena (Diya Mirza) and falls in love instantaneously. He spots her again at a wedding and realises that his love for her is not mere infatuation. But there’s a problem! Reena is all set to get engaged to a boy living in the U.S.

Maddy’s father (Anupam Kher) comes up with an idea that Maddy could impersonate the boy, whom Reena hasn’t seen yet, and win her heart before the actual guy arrives, and Maddy does just that. (more…)
