Zee Cinema presents yet another innovation Cinema Hall, its second branded time slot on weekdays after Klub.
Through Cinema Hall, Zee Cinema is creating a destination that gives the family a reason to come together every night at 8.30 pm. The branded block launches on 23 April and will air from Monday to Friday.

After Indian Idol 2, Airtel has joined hands with Sony Entertainment Television once again bring to its customers an opportunity to participate in the third season of the musical talent hunt.
To participate, Airtel mobile and fixed line customers can call and register for an audition for Indian Idol for which registrations open from 23 March and closes on 29 March 29.
Each registration by an Airtel customer will be screened by the team at Sony Entertainment Television. The ones selected randomly will be called for an audition in Mumbai on 4 April and the selection will be conducted at the discretion of the television network, informs an official release. (more…)
Nimbus had entered into a deal with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in February 2006 for the telecast rights to all matches featuring the Indian team till March 2010.
Many Indian fans, however, were not able to watch India’s series against the West Indies and Sri Lanka earlier this year and following their demands, the government brought out the ordinance asking the sports channel to share its telecast with the Prasar Bharati, which controls Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (AIR), albeit with a seven-minute delay.
The channel has pointed out that the arrangement is eating into its revenues as the Doordarshan’s footprint also includes places outside India. (more…)
Music directors Vishal and Shekhar will be the judges for the second round of auditions of Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007.
Veteran composer Bappi Lahiri, as well as music directors Himesh Reshammiya and Ismail Darbar will also be the judges on the show this year, along with Vishal and Shekhar, the channel says.
The auditions will be held in Mumbai on 19 March 2007. The contestants will get an opportunity to perform in the presence of Vishal - Shekhar, who will take their pick of the finalists from the West zone. (more…)
“Creative differences are necessary as this shows there are no biases among the judges,” said Anu Malik at the first press conference of the third edition of ‘Indian Idol’ which launched its marketing drive in Delhi.
The singer-composer, who was a judge in the first two editions of Indian Idol produced by Miditech for Sony TV, was reacting to a question on sharing the podium of the judge with Alisha Chinai, with whom he had reportedly had a clash some years earlier. The third judge is singer Udit Narayan.
The judges made a dramatic entrance during the press meet at a five-star hotel here, when they where brought in one after another in separate palanquins carried by four to five young men with young women showering them with rose petals. (more…)
English news channel NDTV 24×7 is to be converted into a free to air (FTA) channel in the Cas-notified areas of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata from 23 March.
The channel, which is already FTA in Chennai, is a pay channel in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. NDTV 24×7 is distributed by the Set-Discovery One Alliance distribution bouquet.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India today issued an order to this effect, thus updating their earlier press releases, placing the details of Maximum Retail Prices (MRP) fixed by the broadcasters in respect of Cas areas on the basis of the reporting done by them in terms of clause 7 (ii) of the Trai Order of 31 August, last year. The sequel to the movie Nayee Padosan is on the look out for a fresh new face. Zee Muzic and ETC announced the launch of their Nayee Padosan 2 Face Hunt.
The two music channels ran a joint contest offering its viewers an opportunity to share screen space with the original starcast. The talent hunt which saw hundreds of entries will be short listed through auditions.
The 12 shortlisted candidates will be groomed for the final show down. The talent hunt will culminate in a grand finale in Mumbai on 25 March. (more…)
Walt Disney Company is into an agreement to wholly acquire Hungama TV and take a 14.9 per cent equity interest in media company UTV Software Communications Ltd, in each case subject to regulatory approval.
It will buy 100 percent stake of Hungama TV at a price of 30.5 million U.S. dollars while spending 14 million U.S. dollars on 14.9 percent stake of UTV Software Communications Ltd, according to the company’s statement released in Mumbai, Indian economic center, on Tuesday. But both the deals are still waiting for approvals from the regulatory administration.
“The possession of Hungama TV and the investment in UTV will significantly diversify our presence in India,” Walt Disney International President Andy Bird said at a press conference in Mumbai.
More than 30 Indian television channels will broadcast a two-minute movie The Voices of India on 18 July at 6 pm and 9 pm. Its main aim is to show commonality with the fatalities of the serial train blasts that hit Mumbai last week.
It is for the first time that the television channels like DD, Star, Zee, ETV, Janmat, TV 18 network, NDTV, Sony, Times and MTV will gather to air the film.
The Voices of India encapsulates thoughts articulated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after visiting the bomb blast victims. Sachin Tendulkar, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Fardeen Khan, Anil Kapoor, Yash Chopra, Preity Zinta, Karan Johar and Nana Patekar also feature in the film. Considered as an operation for India, it is the citizen’s response to the radical attack on Mumbai.
