At 34, Mithilesh Shukla (Rajpal Yadav) is a bachelor. A librarian with the University of Lucknow, Mithilesh had successfully avoided marriage. But now, unable to fight family pressure, he is forced to go to Bareli and see a girl.

There, Mithilesh meets Veena (Rituparna Sengupta), who is charming, intelligent, and a few inches taller than him. Mithilesh is further stunned, when Veena accepts the proposal and expresses her will to marry him.

Story: Jeetu (Shahid Kapur) is a small town hustler who is constantly in debt and dodging creditors and moneylenders. His father and his fiancée Pooja (Sushma Reddy) are made to suffer the consequences of his instability and his debts. Jeetu feels that he is not worthy of Pooja and encourages her to marry someone else, which she doesn’t agree to.

Jeetu tries jumping into the sea, trying to drown himself so that his family gets to claim his life insurance and pay off some of his debts. But he is found entangled in fishing nets by a pair of fishermen Bandya (Paresh Rawal) and Gundya (Rajpal Yadav) who take him home with them.

One of the fishermen, Gundya, owes money to Prabhat Singh Chauhan, a Gujrati businessman. On discovering Jeetu caught like a mermaid in their nets, they read a note in Jeetu’s pocket that leads them to assume that he is a millionaire and they hatch a scheme to give Jeetu’s services to Prabhat Singh Chauhan (Om Puri) in exchange for the money that they owe! Synopsis:Once upon a time, there was a lovely girl Lachchi (Rani Mukherji) who was married to a man nterested only in making money. There was a ghost (Shahrukh Khan) who fell madly in love with her.

On the wedding night itself, the husband left home for five long years on account of his business. The ghost took on the husband’s appearance and entered her life.

A few years later, when the husband returned home, the villagers and relatives were bewildered. How this situation gets resolved is the “Paheli”. “Paheli” is the dilemma of the girl who had to choose between
