Then he graduated to films with Deewana and became the numero uno star. But unfortunately other TV stars have not really made it big in films.

After the sizzling broadcaster act with Shabbir Ahluwalia in Nach Baliye a few months ago, and in Zee TV’s Rabba Ishq Naa Hove, the red lady is back this time doing what she does best - wears good clothes, look good and mouth sappy, romantic lines - in Ravi Chopra’s family drama, Viraasat on Star Plus.

In the serial Sangeeta plays a role of Priyanka who marries “Rohit Roy’s character. It’s about two warring family’s fervent their antagonism is like an incurable disease which doesn’t have a cure and marry into that family with the hope of solving their problem,” she says briefly about the show which goes on air on June 12.

Sangeeta say’s that she was initially wary of “doing Viraasat because it was a daily soap but when I read the script I was completely hooked.” Adds Shailja Kejriwal, senior creative director, Star India, “Priyanka Kharbanda, the female leading role of this show, is romantic and tough at mind.”

Varun Badola who has proved his versatility from serials like ‘Astitva-Ek Prem Kahaani’, ‘Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand’ and more recently ‘Nach Baliye’ opposite his wife Rajeswari, has been signed up by Star One for a serial called ‘Arranged Marriage’.

The show which will probably air in March and it will also star Rajeswari. This serial is going to be remade by Haasil and Charas film director Thigmanshu Dhulia. The actor confirmed, “Yes, we (Varun and Rajeswari) have been signed for a show. It’s called Arranged Marriage. We have already started shooting for it. But we are not cast opposite each other. Star Plus popular daily serial Miilee will soon come to an end as the leading lady Mona Wasu has refused to renew her contract that expires in March. The show will complete a year in March. However, after much bargaining, Mona has agreed to shoot for the soap till May-end.

Mona wants to leave the show because the hectic schedule of the show doesn’t leave time for herself. The show started as a weekly in April but keeping in mind its growing popularity it was turned into a daily and the protagonist Mona had to report to the sets every single day of the month.

The news has dismayed her co-stars who are like a huge family and even channel authorities are miffed. Producers cannot replace Mona, as she plays the central character. (more…)
