Shaadi No 1 tells the story of three couples: Raj /Bhavana (Fardeen & Ayesha), Veer /Diya (Zayed & Esha) and Aryan /Sonia (Sharman & Soha).

The husbands feel that their wives don’t respect them enough since they are worthless. They even try to commit suicide, but in vain. As luck would have it, they save an entrepreneur, Kothari (Satish Shah), from committing suicide, and he asks them to join his business.

Kothari has a problem: His daughters, Madhuri (Ria Sen), Dimple (Sophie Chaudhary) and Rekha (Aarti Chhabria), don’t want to have an arranged marriage. Kothari wants the three guys to woo his daughters and then dump them, so that they realize that love affairs can go wrong as well.

Inorder to carry out the job, the guys fly abroad, court the three sisters and actually fall in love with them. But when they return to India, they suddenly discover a problem in the form of Lucky Bhaiya (Sanjay Dutt), who claims to be a distant relative of the three wives.

In the meanwhile, Kothari wants the guys to stop dating his daughters, but they are in no mood to obey his orders. In fact, they even discuss the issue of a second marriage with their respective wives. The complications, however, multiply.

While Vaastav transported viewers to the dark alleys of Mumbai underworld, telling the tale of a dreaded gangster Raghunath Namdeo Shivalkar alias Raghu (played by Sanjay Dutt), Hathyar highlights how Raghu’s son (Sanjay Dutt again) is ostracized by the society because of his father’s past.

Hathyar begins from the point where late Raghu’s son Rohit Shivalkar is shot by his most trusted henchman Pakya (Sharad Kapoor). A mortally wounded Rohit battles for life in the city hospital as doctors operate upon his bullet-ridden body. Lying face to face with death, Rohit’s entire life begins to flash before his eyes.

The film goes into flashback and shows Rohit as a college going youngster, in love with his childhood neighbor Shilpa (Shilpa Shetty) whom he later marries. Rohit has to face a lot of flak from the society that repeatedly reminds him of the stigma attached to his family. His close-knit team includes Bachchan, Khan and Shilpa Shetty. Dutt has had an undercover agent, Deol working in Canada for 8 months, who has provided information that something big is going down on 10th May (the 10 of the title) headed up by a terrorist called Jambaal.
