After years of uncertainty, India’s state-owned television network Doordarshan will begin broadcasting two free-to-air channels here with the idea of bringing “the essence of India to Great Britain” from April 16.
According to the Rayat Group, the private company in charge of the channels’ distribution here, the two channels, DD India and DD News, will start broadcasting 24 hours a day from April 16. The content will be mostly in Hindi.
The launch of the channels is expected to provide a base for further expansion into Europe. Doordarshan will be the latest channel targeting the Asian/Indian diaspora in Britain. The Leading Hindi news channel Zee News has launched a new series, Duniya Hai Goal, The channel will have special programmes that will extensively cover the Soccer World Cup. The two teams of correspondents will be sending to Germany by Zee News for covering the mega event. The most watched event in the world will be looked at from all the aspects of the game by Zee News team.
Duniya Hai Goal will start its half an hour special programme on the thrills and actions of the 2006 FIFA World Cup on May 30, 2006 at 7:30 pm. This bulletin will continue till the finale on July 09 and will have wide-ranging coverage of the tournament with viewer’s interactivity.
The segment on the day’s play will be shown in 6:00 am to 7:00 am bulletin, 11:00 am to 12 noon bulletin, 12 noon to 1 pm. Bulletin, 5 p.m. to 6 pm bulletin and 10 pm. To 11pm bulletin. During the tournament score bugs will run and a trivia will cover the main information about FIFA. Zee News has selected experts for debates and discussions out of the renowned names in game.
Zee News will be showing Countdown that will have profile of top teams and players. It will also have features on stadium and other related aspects of the world cup. In all this process Zee News will be using latest state of the art equipments for the coverage.
